Big Sister League Board of Directors
Donna Moore, President As a Big Sister and a board member, Donna’s experienced both sides of the League. In late 1999 she was matched with her little sister, Aurora. Almost 10 years later, they remain friends and still see each other on special occasions. Donna owns NotJustPets.com, a web site offering personalized pet remembrance books, cards and photos. She holds a BA in English with a minor in Public Relations. Now serving her third year as President of the Board of Directors, Donna continues to work on increasing the League’s presence in San Diego.
Beth A. Swersie, Vice President, OperationsBeth joined the Board in 2007. She is a Senior Land Surveyor at Lintvedt, McColl & Associates. Beth joins Big Sister League following years of volunteer service with the North Park Community Association and the San Diego chapter of the California Land Surveyors Association.
Stephanie Ackerman, Vice President, Human ResourcesStephanie joined the Board in 2008. Originally from Indiana, she attended Indiana University and graduated with a degree in Psychology with a minor in Business. Stephanie is currently the Sr. Manager of Talent Management in the Human Resources department at Illumina, Inc., a fast-growing biotech company headquartered in San Diego. She has worked in the Human Resources field for 10 years in San Diego, specializing in the biotech industry.
Deborah Moore, TreasurerDeborah joined the Board in 2005. A native San Diegan and self proclaimed Navy “brat”. She attended the University of California - Santa Barbara majoring in Business Economics with a minor in Accounting. Deborah is Director of Accounting for Photon Research Associates, Inc, a wholly owned subsidiary of Raytheon’s Space and Airborne Systems.
Nicole Vuckovich, SecretaryNicole graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and a minor in Art History. She currently works as a Financial Adviser for MassMutual. Nicole has been very involved in raising awareness for Breast Cancer and had participated in the "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk" for the past 4 years. She enjoys volunteering for women's causes and is excited to have joined the Big Sister League community.
Kalicia M. Hill, Member at LargeKalicia achieved one of her hardest life-long goals in May of 2006 – she graduated from the University of San Diego with a BA in Communication Studies. She asserts that this is just the beginning of one of many accomplishments she will achieve! Kalicia has been active in the San Diego non profit community for quite some time having volunteered for the Rock and Roll Marathon, the 24 hour relay marathon, The San Diego Blood Dive, and the Goodwill, to name a few. She lists internships at the San Diego Urban League and the Big Sister League as her favorites.
Jeffrey Ames, Member at LargeJeff is a labor and employment litigation attorney at the San Diego firm of Paul, Plevin, Sullivan & Connaughton, LLP. He graduated from the University of Maryland Law School in 1998 and specializes in advising employers and defending litigation relating to employment issues.
Catherine holds a Master's Degree in Corporate Communications, a BA in Communications and a minor in Women's Studies. With a background in public relations and experience in volunteering, Catherine is now committed to assisting the Big Sister League in its mission to enrich the lives of women and girls.
Stormy Miller, Member at LargeStormy earned her Masters in Social Work from the University of Alabama with a concentration in Program and Agency Administration, and has a Bachelor in Social Work. She is currently a Service Coordinator at San Diego Regional Center for the Developmentally Disabled. Throughout college, she served as a graduate assistant in the UA Women's Resource Center, intern with Turning Point Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services, and intern in the Office of the District Attorney. She also has volunteered in London, England, working with individuals with mental illness.
Judy Enns, Member at Large
Judy has been a board member since 1994 and has served in all board capacities. Judy received her doctorate in Communications from Ohio State University. In 1990, Judy founded HR Solutions to address the Human Resources needs of small, medium and large employers in Southern California. Currently the firm has seven practice locations throughout the west and in Atlanta, GA.
Big Sister League Program Directors
Jane Moyle, Executive Director
Jane Moyle has worked for the Big Sister League for over three years doing various jobs before becoming Executive Director, most recently being the Mentor Program Director. Jane started her career in banking in the late 60s through the 90s working her way up from clerk to a vice president and manager. She ultimately managed one of the largest branches of Home Savings of America in San Diego County. In the late 90s she decided to take a new career direction and work in the non-profit world. She worked with Meals-on Wheels and Jewish Family Services, and managed two senior centers during this time. Since then she’s also been very involved in the community as an Old Globe Theatre board member, on the San Diego Zoological Society Ritz event committee, giving time to worthwhile causes from Kiwanis, Rotary and Lions Club. and helping out with the San Diego Mayor's annual holiday homeless shelter. Jane lives at San Pasqual Academy, a boarding school for foster youth run by the county of San Diego, where she teaches art and acts as a grandparent to 150 foster teens. Jane holds a B.A. in English from SDSU.
Jen Moyle, Mentor Program Director
Jen joined the League in 2007, first as a volunteer, then as Executive Assistant, and now as the Mentor Program Director. Jen has a B.A. in Journalism from CSU Chico, with minors in Speech Communication and Psychology. She has written for various local newspapers and worked in the non-profit field for the last 8 years. She previously worked to get young people involved in politics and taught them to debate at the Junior Statesmen Foundation. Jen is a native San Diegan and is working to make BSL a household name in her hometown. Jen is politically active and believes serving the women and girls in San Diego is the greatest expression of her advocacy for them. She also really likes it when all the Little Sisters dress up for Halloween.
Big Sister League Residency Board
Cynthia Deigert Tanner, PresidentCynthia joined the Board in 1999 and has served in all board capacities. She is President of the Residency Board. She holds an MBA in Finance and is a CPA. She is Director of Finance for a large senior living facility owner and operator, Senior Resource Group.
Wendy Beerbower, Member at LargeWendy is the Vice President of Sales for EquityKey, a real estate investment company providing financial solutions for Senior homeowners. Prior to joining EquityKey, Wendy held the position of Vice President of Sales for Move.com and Realogy. Wendy received a BA in Economics from Rollins College in Winter Park, FL.
Laurie Wright , Member at LargeLaurie is an attorney in private practice. She has been on the Residency Board since 2002. She was on the Board of the League from 1994 through 1996 and served as Vice-President of Events in 1995-96. She has served as a member and Chair of the local Bar Association Committees and as an organizer and board member of various nonprofit organizations since 1980.
Robin Behm, Member At LargeRobin joined the Residency Board in 2005. Her professional careers include credit management for Citibank and Trans Union, project consulting for First Data Corp, and real estate sales for Prudential Realty. Born and raised in Baltimore MD. Robin received a BA in Economics & Sociology from Sweet Briar College in VA. Robin volunteers and has held board positions for a variety of non-profit organizations since early 1980.
